Snowbird Community Library is dedicated to the purpose of enriching the lives of the residents of the Snowbird Community by connecting the people with information, ideas, and technology to promote lifelong learning, literacy development, cultural enrichment, and community involvement to promote personal growth and well-being.
In our first year in our new facility, we hit the ground running. We continue our path to becoming a cultural and community resource for our Tribe. We are continuing to bring more to our community, more to do, more things to learn, more ways to grow. As I have always, always said there will never be a way that adequately describes how amazing the staff of Snowbird Community Library is and their desire to be and do what they can for our community. I will also never be able to fully show them my appreciation of all that they do to make our program great! Thank you for the opportunity to serve our Tribe and our community.
Goals
– Strengthen the Connection between schools and the community.
– Improve awareness of available cultural resources and improve ease of access to those resources.
– Eliminate barriers that restrict equitable access to services.
– Leverage partnerships and collaborations to improve services for vulnerable citizens.
– Develop and make available resources on Cherokee History, developed by Cherokee People, that is specific to EBCI.
– Develop policies and procedures that support the most efficient and effective delivery of services for the benefit of the tribe and tribal members.
Objectives
– Continue to offer Wi-Fi to public
– Continue to compile any and all Cherokee History for our Genealogy and Cherokee Language Collections.
– Stay connected with school staff and students and be a support for school personnel and students.
– Continue our Pop-Up Library
– Programming with Senior Citizens, Schools, Daycares, and Community.
– Collaborate with local crafters to offer cultural classes. (Finger weaving, pottery, sewing).
– Continue with reading programs for all ages, so that all needs are met.
